How Can I Store Unopened Whiskey Bottles At Home For A Long Time?

Store your bottles in a dark place without sun light. It is also important that the bottles are in a place with a constant temperature. When bottles heat up and then cool down, the temperature changes will cause the contents to evaporate more quickly. To prevent oxidation, you can seal the closures of your bottle with parafilm or cling film. Parafilm is the best, but more expensive.

Never store your bottles on their side, like wine: the high alcohol content in whisky will dissolve the cork. Store them upright. When they are closed with a cork, turn them once a year to keep the cork moist.

Hope this was helpful,

  • Vale: Would these tips apply to all high alcohol beverages like also vodka, rum, bourbon, etc.? Or would some go bad because of the sugars? What about liqueurs?
