Hi
I got on yesterday and asked if anyone could help me with a problem with my wine not fermenting and said that my son put campden tablets in my must and not knowing it I did the same, it has been two months and the must still hasn't fermented and I needed help real bad. I didn't want to lose the must because I collected and cleaned rhubarb all summer long for 6 gallons of wine. So asked if to much campden tablets would stop my must from fermenting . I went out and bought myself a vinometre and a hydrometer and went home and tested my must, nothing read on the meters, so I decided to siphen my must and throw away the sediment and take the advice I got on your site from a lady, Her name, I'm not sure, I think it was Wino or something like that, she told me that the campden tablets was my problem and to go get Hydrogen peroxide of 3% and remove the excess CO2 or SO2. Seeing that I had to much campden in my must , I had to add 10.5ML to my 6 gallons of must, because of to much campden tablets. She also told me to try it on a small batch first, Well I didn't and I did what she told me to do next and I just took a chance, I had nothing to lose, but a summer of hard work collecting all the rhubarb to make six gallons of wine. So I put the hydrogen peroxide in the carboy and waited a half hour or so and then prepared my yeast and added that to the must. I went to bed at 2:A.M. Eastern time and when I got up this morning at 8 and checked my must and GLORY TO GOD, it was FERMENTING like I never seen must ferment before. I was the happiest person in New York State today. I will have to come up with a good name for this wine when I bottle it.
Thank you so much to to lady Wino, if that is your name. THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
You win some and you lose some, this time I won.

Ozwino, the reason I thought you were a woman was that your picture image has slightly long hair and to me it looked like a woman, so it was hard for me to tell if you were a woman or a man. I suggest you get a photo of yourself and post it and that way it won't happen again. Sorry about that, I know now that you are a man. No harm meant.

yes am cracking up laughing! especially from what you said about me having long hair in the picture which made me look like a woman...I think it may be more than the long hair that made me look like a woman . I'm sure you remember the picture DG! By coincidence I changed my picture last night. Just so there's no confusion this time, I am not actually a kangaroo either

Sandy, I am really happy your wine is fermenting again. I have personal experience using the peroxide to remove SO2, as when I was a student winemaker instead of adding 50ppm SO2 to a big batch of shiraz i added 500ppm, so had to go go through the process of putting the peroxide into the wine drip by drip. Not great for the wine, but better than drinking wine with 500ppm SO2

You'll have to let us know how the wine turns out. I have lots of rhubarb growing in my garden and was considering making wine out of it too

Thanks for the reply. I like your picture now, at least I know your not a man or a woman and just an honest animal.
As for the rhubarb wine, I added some red grape juice to the batch, it really taste very good. I will let you know how it turns out.
you have rhubarb growing, you can get it all summer long and cut it up and freeze it, that's what I did. Also of all the homemade wines that I have tasted , I think the rhubarb is the best tasting wine I have ever had. You need to make some. Thanks for your message and now I know who you really are. Keep Wining.
