Hi, hope you can help. I am on a charity challenge to see how much I can make starting with a bottle of water. I could swap this for a 1.5l bottle of groot constantia cabernet sauvignon 1982 which I thought I might be able to sell or something. I have attached a photograph of both. Any suggestions or should I just drink the water?

It totally depends on the condition of the wine. Was it stored correctly? Temp, position, lack of light all important. Where was it made?

Might be worthless. However if your choice was swap for the wine or drink the water, even if it's worthless monetarily you will get more out of drinking the wine than the water. So swap, and if it's worthless drink the wine or cook with it.

Anyway on these kind of charity challenges you are better off walking up to people and explaining what you are doing and trying to do a swap right then and there. Bottle of water for a 6 pack of soda. Single soda for something else etc etc. Usually you end up with a bunch of stuff, and depending on the challenge you may have to sell that for cash or just add up the value of the items at the end of the time period. If you can trade for the wine, at least you can get more for the wine in barter than just the water.

Ok so IF the wine was stored correctly, it is probably worth about 35-55. This is a total guess, but their most expensive cab I can find is a 1994 at $25. For all I know their wine ages badly and it's crapola now, but either way it is worth more than a bottle of water. I still say trade it and drink the thing.
