In 1989, hardly anyone outside of South America had even heard of Chilean wines. Today, Chile is the third largest wine exporter in the world.
The vineyards of Viña La Playa occupy some of the Colchagua Valley’s most desirable acreage, on the western shores of Chile’s Tinguiririca River. With near-perfect growing conditions, Colchagua has been described as “The Next Napa”. The La Playa brand, named for Chile’s magnificent Pacific coastline, was launched in 1989 by the Axelsen family of Marin and Napa Counties in California.
La Playa translates to “The Beach”, and this Rosé would be ideal for a beach picnic. The LaPlaya Brand was launched in 1989 by the Axelsen family of California. In building the current day corporation, Viña La Playa S.A., the Axelsens partnered with the Sutil and Errázuriz families.
