I rinse the bottles after use, and before bottling load them into the dishwasher. I use the long sani-cycle and add a couple of glugs of bleach to the first cycle of rinsing water. They come out great and warm and with the filter at the bottom of the dishwasher catching them, the labels come right off of my newer bottles.

I have those bottles with the wire cap. I replaced all the washers with new ones. Do you have to lay the bottles down? I left them all standing.

NO!! i will stand behind this:: i have used bleach and switched to VODKA every time i pull the lid or remove the air-lock i spray VODKA on the beer.you can not do this with any other chemical. if i need to use a spoon to stir i spray it with VODKA then i can stir the beer.after i stir the beer i can spray it with VODKA and put the lid and air-lock back on and I KNOW i have not contaminated the beer: can you do this with bleach??? if you want to use bleach then use it BUT keep your mind open to VODKA

Why not remove the airlock before you remove the lid. Then you wouldn`t spray anything on your beer

Yeah, it`s easy to come up with something better. Either Iodophor or StaSan, both no rinse, no taste sanitizers that actually sanitize, unlike vodka. Do what you will, but others should know that there are better solutions to sanitizing than vodka.

Man, watch the caps, it seems like you are yelling.
I don`t spray anything. I don`t open my beer and stir it up. I ferment in carboys, a 6.5 gallon for my primary and a 5 gallon for my secondary. I never swirl it or anything. I pitch the yeast and forget about it, other than monitoring the temperature.

And much cheaper, at least in the case of Iodophor, which is what I use to santize all my equipment.
