I'm making pear wine for the first time. My sg at the start was 1.100 After 5 days sg was 1.090 I waited 2 more days and got a sg of 1.070 I thought the first fermentation should be over by now and I should do my first racking. Is it ok that it is going this slow? Should I continue to wait for the sg to drop lower and if so, how low should it be before I do the 1st racking and put it under airlock? Thanks for your help!

its good u watch your must so well. i does seem slow for your fermention. maybe the temp.? maybe a weak yeast? but, if the sg is dropping i would let it go for a bit(a week or so). some would say make a starter yeast and "jump start" it. the best thing is to watch and learn.

i think altho slow it will be ok. then put in secondary wait till it stops bubbling the airlock and rack it again.
