I have two year old zimfandels that I planted last year. They were about one year old when I bought them. They grew vigourously the first year I had them. I am not satisfied with they way they have grown over my trellises and I want to start over. I would like train them following the Lyre system. My trellises are Lyre compatible. The may cordons cannot be adapted to the Lyre system as it is. Can I just cut the trunk at one meter height and start over, allowing two new cordons to form and then go from there?
