And how do you know that it has gone bad, and can no longer be used?

Bailey's website states that an unopened bottle will last for 2 years.
Once the bottle is opened, you can drink it within six months. You do not have to store it in the fridge as the whiskey preserves the cream but it is fine if you do!
Hope that helps.

In my house the way we tell it's gone bad is we look at the bottle, and if it's empty- it's bad. Also there is no way it would last that long here at home so if you value your Bailey's don't try keeping it at my place! White Russians all night long baby!!

(or, at my place)

Is Baileys expensive in the U.S. as well?

Eleven dollars for 750 ml. I like a double shot of the stuff in my afternoon coffee-and I agree DGreene, its bad if the bottle is empty!

Personally I don't buy it, more of a scotch or wine person than anything else. However if Jennifer or Michaela decide not to listen to my wisdom and send me bottles of it to keep here I will be drinking it more often!

OMG! That could have been alcohol abuse! Baileys website actually says that they guarantee their flavor for 2 years in an open or closed bottle refrigerated or not so long as it remains out of direct sun light. They also add they have a shelf life (seal unbroken) of 30 months. Continue to enjoy! As will I!

I have an opened bottle of caramel Baileys that says it should be consumed by December 2009. I had some last year with no ill effects. Still tastes okay today. I put it in my coffee this morning.

I have a bottle in my fridge that has a sell by date of 10/2011, and it's now 03/2015 so by reading your post my bottle should still be good? I'm actually going to use it to make cupcakes.

18 months is the distillers recommendation should say on the back of the bottle.

Kind regards,
James

My Baileys still find after opening it for the very first time after its 12 recommended expiry date. Although the creamy part was all clogged up, the rest was still drinkable after all these years. And I have so far not suffered from any ill effects from drinking it. Cheers 🍻

I just poured from an opened bottle that's stamped 2008 (first opened and last poured ~6 months ago without noticing anything wrong) into my coffee and there was some "chunky" bits in it. Tried to scoop them out, but they were a bit slippery and more than I felt were acceptable. I poured the coffee and the bottle out. YMMV.

White Russians are Vodka and Kaluhua and half and half but adding baileys makes it a mudslide martini and they are awesome!!! If you add baileys to those two u skip the half and half.
