Hmmm... I sense some confusion here... Hirsch 20 year AW (American Whiskey) is fairly common and IMO not all that good. It usually retails for around $69, and it's debatable if it's worth it-- I think not. On the other hand, "A. H. Hirsch" 20 year bourbon (bourbon, not American Whiskey) is highly coveted and obsolete-- fetching prices upwards of $500 on recent eBay auctions. If you see one of these on a shelf for $100 it's a steal-- but that's highly unlikely as it's long discontinued.
The 5-star rating was given to it's younger brother, "A. H. Hirsch" 16 year bourbon. Call it marketing nonsense if you will, but I love this stuff and would have awarded it 6 stars on a 5 star scale. Some argue the 20 year A. H. Hirsch is inferior to the 16, but I'm sure they're both excellent.
Hope that helps!
PS: If anyone has a stash any of the A. H. Hirsch bourbons and would like to discuss a sale or trade, shoot me an email:
