Does it hurt anything to taste the wine as its aging in the carboy. I have racked my wine off the sediment and into a clean secondary once now, and each week I have been tasting it to see the progress,,will this cause me any problems.. I just pipette a bit out and put the airlock back on.
Thanks

Bill

I'm not racking it when I'm tasting it tho Bob, just popping the airlock off and getting a pipette of it and then putting the airlock back on. No problems with doing this??

Oh, no leave the airlock on it till your ready to do something to it, dont be exposing it to more air than you have to.

Ok, I kinda suspected this,, this wine making is a thing of patience I see,,, it will be a learned behaviour for me, lol. I have to rack it again in a little over a month, I'll stay away from it till then,, thanks again

Check out beer brewing it will give you something to do while you wait on your wine. If you can get grain nearby within driving distance it can be as cheap as 8.00 a case.

But I do enjoy tasting the different tastes.. mostly my wife drinks the stuff, the lush. lol actually the patients thing isnt as bad as it use to be,, like wine I get better with age. ha
