I'm looking for alternate suggestions to hold/press the fruit pulp while making wine. I currently only have one mesh bag (already in use). What 'common' items are other people using?

Cheap tabletop presses are pretty cheap, you could probably make something with one of those cheap IKEA collanders that sell for like 7 bucks with some wood and some weights keeping the mesh bag. Small amounts this would probable work, just put the collander in a deeper pot (sanitized) and put wood blocks made of hardwood that just fit inside, then stack something heavy on top. Just an idea. I made my own press with a hydraulic jack but it's for large amounts, I am probably doing the same as u with the mesh bag for my 6 gallon batches of stuff just wringing it out. I have heard people using those juicer machines with good sucess also.

Ive been wondering about the juicer myself. Wife was going to buy me one but I told her to hold off. I was worried from reading that they would over process the fruit causing it to be to bitter.

Thanks guys. I ended up doing it the old fashioned method. I smashed the fruit the best I could with my hands before placing it in the mesh bag to squeeze some more. It was a lot of work but yielded a lot of juice. I think I need to invest in some more mesh bags.
